Las Vegas just bid adieu to a couple favorite annual conventions that pump millions of dollars into the city: the Consumer Electronics Show and (wait for it) the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo. They really do go hand-in-hand when you think about it, don't they?
I did not personally attend either event because I spent majority of my waking hours on a casino floor. But word on the street is both were well attended. Lady GaGa made an appearance at CES that, by all accounts, created a massive stir among the technogeeks.
While I spoke to several CES-goers, I spoke to no one who attended Adult Expo (at least none who would admit it). And I saw no porn stars cavorting about the gaming floor. But that's because their annual awards show and after parties were largely held at its host venue: The Palms.
